This morning I cut open the sourdough and it was perfect. Super soft and springy, with a crispy crust and lots of bubbles. I was scared it was going to be dense but it was the total opposite. So hype. I ate a slice with black cherry jam and butter for breakfast and it was sooo amazing. My sister and dad made sandwiches with it for lunch and my mom also made toast. All of them loved it. There isn’t much left now but luckily I already started the next one.

I was feeling lazy. Mainly because I went to bed late, got woken up at 7:30 by the dogs, begging to be let out and fed over an hour earlier than usual. Then I went back to sleep around 8 and was pretty groggy when I eventually woke up. I made my toast and an iced latte. I didn’t have a clear plan today. I had ideas, but I was not energized whatsoever.

I decided to feed the starter again to start on another loaf bc my mom’s friend wants one and we’re low. It’s really time intensive, but so easy. My goal is to have enough starter to make pizzas on friday (my mom’s request before i go back).

Then I went back to the dog park, this time with all 3 dogs. I took my book with me and drove them over to avoid my arms being ripped off trying to walk them all there. They had fun, but the two senior girls kept coming back panting heavily and wanting attention. It was cute, but unfortunately took away from my reading time.

I was there for a while and then took them home when it was time to feed them. I made rice with sriracha mayo and soy sauce and had that with some salmon I cooked up. It was good. The dogs all passed out on the couch. I started another batch of dough once my starter was big enough and I’m gonna refrigerate it to finish tomorrow.

  1. I love how many pictures you included with this post! Your dogs are adorable and baking has always been kinda fascinating to me even though I don't consider it one of my hobbies. I think I just like the step by step process and visible end result/reward.

  2. Your sourdough looks so delicious! If you ever have a surplus, I'd pay you to make me some one day. Is baking something you only do when you visit home?
