Last blog!!! And the completion of my mission to self teach making perfect sourdough loaves. It took some experimenting, but I tried out making some small ones with inclusions. They were mid at best. But I did a bunch of research and pored over the sourdough reddit.
Today I baked off my final inclusion loaves after everything I had learned. I used dried or freeze dried fruits instead of fresh to prevent extra liquid from messing up the texture. I did half loaves just in case something went wrong and also so my family wouldn’t be left with so much.
I did one blueberry cheesecake, one cherry apple, one orange cranberry, and one plain for my grandma. I took them out of the fridge this morning and baked them. They turned out PERFECT but the real test was the inside… So I waited an hour until they were finally ready to cut. Thankfully the inside was light, fluffy, and had just the right amount of air pockets to make a nice texture. So yeah, basically in like 5 days I learned to make sourdough bread from starter to finish (ikik so funny don’t pass out from all that laughing).
Bonus sandwich loaf I made for my parents and sister ^
Those loaves look delicious!! That sounds like such a fun and useful hobby to have as well, congrats on learning!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of how delicious these probably were! What a fun and interesting skill you developed. I have enjoyed watching you accomplish it through your blogs :)
ReplyDeleteDude the cherry apple one I did was so good I forgot to take a pic before eating a chunk out of the middle
DeleteMy stepmom just started learning this process! I can't wait to try some fresh for myself. We'll have to try putting some fruits into it next time!
ReplyDeletethat was really smart baking with dried or frozen fruits. I love to bake and seeing that you tried something new makes me wanna try too.
